A camera car system is a work in progress.
We've been using the Ronin 2 as the head on the Motocrane Ultra with varying results. Too much speed or wind resistance forced us to make compromises with the arm and thus compromises with the shot. The Ronin 2 is a great tool and certainly the best option in its class but if the point of the Motocrane Ultra is a camera car system without compromise - we needed MORE.
Enter the Shotover G1!
“It's not for the faint of heart but it's now the camera car without compromise we had set out to make over a year ago."
My partner had been talking to Shotover for almost six months trying to go over system options but the cost was prohibitive. These systems are built to last and there is not an after market plethora of options and when you find one the cost doesn't make financial sense.
We were looking at the Movi XL but the weight of the system and the word of mouth on it is so mixed.
Suddenly, an opportunity presented itself that we couldn't say no to!
Marc and Nick from the office were on a plane to LA the next day, check in hand. They were going to train on the system and bring it back. We've had some time with it. It's not for the faint of heart but it's now the camera car without compromise we had set out to make over a year ago.
...updates soon!
